Hapless Pakistan whitewashed as NZ clinches 2nd Test

HAMILTON: New Zealand whitewashed Pakistan in the two-match Test series as the green shirts lost the second Test match to the Kiwis by 138 runs. 

As is usually the case with the green shirts, a sudden collapse triggered a downfall which looked almost impossible to save. With the quick wickets of Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz, New Zealand just required one wicket to win while Pakistan needed 139 more runs to win. That wicket fell soon enough as New Zealand registered a historic series win against Pakistan after 31 long years. 

Pakistan started ended well at lunch, when they required 292 in 62 overs it evoked memories of an epic run chase in Sharjah two years ago when they smacked 302 in the fourth innings in 57.3 overs to beat Sri Lanka.

Sami Aslam was unbeaten on 75 as Pakistan went to tea at 158-1 needing a run a ball in a climactic final session. However, the situation got out of hand when three quick wickets fell and Pakistan looked in trouble. Sarfraz was run out chasing a double run which was really not needed at the moment. Asad Shafiq fell prey to Henry a few overs after, giving New Zealand the upper hand.
