LAHORE: Arthur Nayyar popularly known as A. Nayyar passed away after a prolonged illness here on Friday.
He was 66. A. Nayyer appeared on the scene in 1970s. He was a famous singer of 1970s and 80s and gave many memorable songs.
He began his career as a singer from film Bahisht in 1974.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have expressed their condolences over the sad demise of A. Nayyar.
According to a President House statement, Mamnoon Hussain said the services of late Nayyar in the field of music would be remembered for long.
He also prayed for the departed soul and patience for the bereaved family to bear the loss with equanimity.
PM Nawaz also expressed deep grief over the death of Nayyar and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Paying rich tributes to the great services of A. Nayyar for promotion of music in Pakistan, the prime minister said that Nayyar would always remain a shining star in the world of music.
