On Wednesday, the chair of the Federal Communications Commission said that tax-payer funded television ads featuring Donald Trump are permissible and do not raise regulatory red flags.

According to democratic lawmakers, the White House transferred $20 million in Homeland Security Department funds to broadcast the commercials including one that closely similar a 2024 Trump campaign ad.

In this connection, FCC Chair Brendan Carr said: “There's nothing in there that strikes me to merit any sort of FCC review or any liability for any broadcaster for running a regular, normal (public service announcement).”

Meanwhile, ethics experts and lawmakers from both parties have planned the three nationally broadcast ads which celebrate a golden age of America and are airing almost five weeks before midterm elections.

Given the situation, lawmakers have questioned whether public funds are being used to tout the administration’s achievements while other critics say the spots may defy historical constraints on government propaganda and political activity. The White House stated that the initiative primarily consists of public awareness campaigns that seek to promote patriotism rather than function as campaign ads.

Furthermore, advocacy group public citizens filed a complaint with the FCC arguing that the spots are campaign advertisements that should not be created or distributed using public funds.
