Take-Two shuts down native GTA V Android port project

The ambitious dream of running Grand Theft Auto V natively on Android hardware has officially collapsed. Take-Two Interactive issued a cease-and-desist to developer Paralympics Productions, forcing the team to shut down operations just as their unofficial mobile port neared completion.

Project lead Mojso confirmed on X that the development group will fully cease operations by October 3, 2026. In a farewell message to the community, the developer expressed gratitude for what they called Take-Two's leniency, confirming the move ends not just the Android build but an earlier native Nintendo Switch port as well.

Most community efforts to run GTA V on Android rely on emulation layers like Winlator, which translate the x86 PC version to run through a compatibility layer. Paralympics Productions took a far more ambitious approach, compiling the game to run natively on ARM hardware.

That method promised real advantages, including higher frame rates, lower device temperatures, and touchscreen controls built directly into the game rather than mapped on top of a translation layer.

Combined with Take-Two and Rockstar's consistently strict policies against porting their intellectual property to unsupported platforms, the legal exposure was significant, a risk flagged when the project first surfaced publicly earlier this month.

Mojso confirmed that neither the compiled binary builds nor the underlying source code will be released to the public, a decision aimed at avoiding further legal action from Take-Two.
