Selena Gomez recently shared a rare glimpse into her future family plans while speaking at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City.

The 34-year-old, who married husband Benny Blanco nearly a year ago, shared that she plans to eventually have children of her own.

During the conversation, Gomez was asked about her proudest achievement with her mental health nonprofit, Rare Impact Fund.

In her answer, she reflected on the importance of breaking down stigma. "I think what makes me proud is knowing that we're truly making a difference... I think there's a bunch of stigma around everything."

She also expressed her hope that starting a family one day won't be treated as a taboo topic. "Eventually I'll have my own children, and this is something that I don't want to be taboo."

The actress then continued, ]"I don't mind if people think it's "out there," but I love what we have accomplished and I think we'll just continue to grow in that manner and hopefully continue to do great things."

Gomez's comments come two years after she revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that she's medically unable to carry children due to health complications that could put her life and a baby's at risk.

"I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while," she continued.

She explained that surrogacy and adoption are both meaningful possibilities for her.

"I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me," she continued.
