Patrick Clancy gets candid about accountability in Lindsay Clancy case
Patrick Clancy has opened up about a difficult question involving his ex-wife, Lindsay
Patrick Clancy, though, has forgiven his former wife, Lindsay Clancy, who killed their three children at home in 2023.
However, in his latest interview with 60 Minutes, he weighed in on a difficult question about how accountability can happen when the person is struggling with a mental health illness.
But he said both compassion and accountability can happen at the same time.
With him recognizing Lindsay's mental health challenges, it does not necessarily mean, as Patrick said, "that doesn't mean no accountability."
“I think we can find a compassionate way to deal with these tragedies, and that doesn’t mean no accountability,” he said.
Patrick continued, “It just means that we recognize the suffering and the stigma, and we try to find a way to prevent this from happening in the future.”
“That’s always how I’ve looked at it,” he shared.
Patrick also revealed that he has spoken to several postpartum psychosis victims and, in his view, “It doesn’t discriminate; it can happen to anyone. It’s best detected early.”
The interview with 60 Minutes took place at a park that is dedicated to the children in Duxbury.
“My kids are buried here, and I still have family here, but it’s hard,” Patrick said. “It’s difficult coming back to this town, even though I loved it so much.”
Meanwhile, Lindsay's next hearing will take place on Sept. 29.
