Oilers goalie Connor Ingram makes surprise retirement announcement at 29

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Connor Ingram has announced his retirement from the NHL at the age of 29.

Ingram revealed his decision in a post on Instagram on Friday, bringing an end to an NHL career that included spells with five franchises.

The Oilers acquired Ingram from the Utah Mammoth before last season.

Ingram also appeared in the playoffs for Edmonton, going 2-3 with an .876 save percentage and 3.86 goals-against average before the Oilers were eliminated in the first round.

The goaltender had just completed a three-year, $5.85 million contract carrying a $1.15 million salary cap hit.

Ingram was selected 88th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2016 NHL Draft.

He finishes his NHL career with a 55-54-18 record, a .901 save percentage and a 3.01 goals-against average.

Ingram played for the Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes, Utah Mammoth and Edmonton Oilers during his NHL career after being drafted by Tampa Bay.
