Chris Rock gets honest about needing 'Madagascar money': 'It's time'

Chris Rock is looking forward to another Madagascar film as the actor confesses he is scraping the bottom of the barrel after his divorce.

The 61-year-old comedian, who voices Marty the zebra in all three parts of Madagascar films, sat down with Variety for a recent interview and expressed his desire to reprise his wild persona in a fourth film.

Rock began, “I played Marty the zebra in Madagascar."

“Everybody is really good. It’s probably the biggest movie I’ve ever been in," he remarked.

The actor then continued, "You know, we did three of them. I pray to God we do one more in a world where they’re rebooting everything.”

Rock noted that it's high time he gets another Madagascar film, especially after his recent divorce, as another movie might lift up his bank account a bit.

Rock explained, “Do you understand I got divorced? I don’t have Madagascar money anymore."

He continued, “We only did three. There’s five Ice Ages. Five! Okay? I need another Madagascar."

"It’s time!” he remarked.

The first Madagascar film was released in 2005.

Other stars who have lent their voice to the franchise are Jada Pinkett Smith, Ben Stiller, and David Schwimmer.

For those unaware of Rock's separation, the actor finalized his divorce from Compton-Rock in 2016.

The former couple, who share daughter Lola and Zahra, first met in 1994 and tied the knot back in 1996. They separated in 2014 after 18 years of marriage.
