There has been no shortage of rumors surrounding Prince Harry’s return to the UK, however, King Charles just set the record straight by sending an official letter, explaining their status as citizens, but also demanded privacy for them in the process.

However, this begs the question, ‘why write on in the first place’? In order to explain things a U.K. based royal commentator named Afua Hagan cam forward.

She spoke to Newsweek about the whole thing and even proposed possibilities in great detail.

In her chat with the outlet, she pointed out how little it gives away, while simultaneously setting ground rules.

She said, “it's not really telling us anything we don't already know. We knew they were going to be non-working royals, so I wonder whether this re-iteration was necessary or whether the Sussexes might have engagements coming up this week and so they may want to demarcate between 'them' and 'us.' At least we all know where we stand.”

A similar comment comes from the author of royal biography My Mother and I, Ingrid Seward. In her view its all very simple because “the letter is very clear and people do need to understand,” she said. “It would be very irritating and undermining for the officially working royals, especially the Prince and Princess of Wales” had it not been addressed.
