Jessie J is stepping away from social media, saying the past two years have taken a toll on her mental and physical wellbeing.

The 38-year-old singer shared the news in a lengthy Instagram caption posted September 7, reassuring fans upfront that she's okay, just not at her best.

“I want to start this post off by saying I am ok. I am not at my best but very far from my worst. I know people can twist these kinds of posts,” she began as she captioned a video from a recent performance.

Continuing, she wrote, “It’s no secret that the last 2 years have been magical, successful, life changing and extremely busy. I have loved the last 2 years mostly, hated it in moments and learnt the most I have ever learnt about myself and what I want from my life and mostly what I want it to FEEL like.”

Jessie then reflected on an eventful stretch of time that included releasing her first album in eight years, moving from the US back to the UK, getting diagnosed with and beating early-stage breast cancer, touring internationally, going through a breakup, and raising her toddler son while managing her own social media, styling, and beauty routine.

Jessie, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2025, also underwent a mastectomy and was declared cancer-free this past May. Her split with partner Chanan Safir Colman, with whom she shares 3-year-old son Sky, happened a month later.

Acknowledging that the past two years have worn her down, Jessie J said she's using this quieter period to prioritise healing, including an upcoming second cancer reconstruction surgery.

"Now’s the time. Work has slowed down. So healing speeds up please," she added. "So I’m tapping out of this [world] for a while and into my real one. To give my mind, body and heart a well needed hug."

She described wanting time to recharge, process everything she's been through, and be fully present with her son. "I never feel I can really give that side the energy and time it deserves when it’s needed while staying on socials and my phone so much."

"A digital cleanse it is," she remarked. Any future posts, she noted, will likely come from her team or be tied to work commitments.

On a concluding note, she added. "I love this video because you can see how much I love to sing, and also how my face is getting older. How lucky I am to be alive and to age naturally.”

In her final Instagram Story before logging off, she shared a photo of her hand holding her son's, writing, "No place I would rather be. Bye social media. Be back when I want to be."
