Though Tom Holland was the face of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there were two other characters from Marvel.

The Hulk and Jean Grey.

But it was not forced by Marvel head Kevin Feige. Instead, Daniel Cretton, the director behind the movie, said the story perfectly fit those characters.

In an interview on NPR's Fresh Air podcast, he said, "Kevin's not necessarily ever pushing things on us."

The director continued, "Once we know what we want, we have to go to him and ask, like, 'Is that going to work?"

"Can we use this character in our movie?" he said, adding, "The same with Hulk, too."

"We had to ask Kevin. It made sense for our movie to have the Hulk; it wasn't a mandate to put him in. We had to request, and Kevin let us do it," Cretton noted.

Meanwhile, there is a vast difference in terms of scale between Spider-Man: Brand New Day and No Way Home.

Kevin Feige previously explained that it was intentional.

"When we made Brand New Day, we set out saying, 'Well, we'll never make more than No Way Home; never make it bigger than No Way Home. So, let's just go deeper and make it special," he said at this year's D23.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still running in theatres.
