Constitutional expert breaks down Prince Harry’s most realistic UK prospects

Prince Harry’s return to his homeland has brought with it more questions than answers, especially since most have no clue as to the reason for this “extended” stay.

But now Craig Prescott, a constitutional expert and lecturer in law at Royal Holloway, University of London, has come forward with insights.

In his view, RAVEC’s decision to not extend security on an immediate basis is not the right call because, as he puts it, “they may not be working royals, but they're still members of the Royal Family.”

He also said, “Harry is the son of the King at the end of the day, and he will never not be the son of the King. Officially, nothing changes,” Mr Prescott also said as part of his interview with the CBC.

But he did acknowledge how, by the virtue of his birth ‘clearly’, Harry will” get attention wherever he goes, whatever he does,” and “so there is a sort of risk of that being a distraction from the work of the monarchy.”

In his view to make this all as seamless as possible, “it all depends on how things are handled on both sides. We know the palace is going to — and they've already taken the position — that [Harry and Meghan are] not working royals, 'we won't be commenting on their lives now that they're back'.” So “a lot will depend on how Harry and Meghan proceed” too he even noted before actually signing off.
