Stephen Colbert's cancelled show gets major recognition at 2026 Emmys
The late night show also breaks John Oliver's decade-long Emmy streak
Even after The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's cancellation by CBS earlier this year following its successful 11-year run, the show secured a total of six wins out of its nine nominations at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
During Emmy Night 1, which took place on Saturday, September 5, the late-night show received five main-show Creative Arts Emmys and one for its digital companion series.
Here is the list of winning categories:
- Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama Or Variety Series
- Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series
- Outstanding Directing For A Variety Series
- Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming
- Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Variety Series
The main series also won its first-ever award in Outstanding Talk Series category after nine prior nominations
It is pertinent to mention that Stephen's show broke Last Week Tonight with John Oliver's 10-year winning streak in the Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series category.
Other two nominations:
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert received a nod for Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Or Reality Series for the episode featuring guest John Krasinski.
Last but not the least, the show also received a nomination for Outstanding Music Direction for its finale episode.
The second night of the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards will take place on Sunday, September 6.
