Kanye West's 'brother' hits back at criticism over rapper's hometown show

Kid Cudi and Kanye West go back a long time. Both are close collaborators. However, the artists also experienced periods of strong disagreement that sometimes led to conflict.

However, the musicians eventually reconciled, leading to the 42-year-old appearing on Ye's recent shows at Soldier Field in Chicago alongside Travis Scott and Big Sean.

But Peter Rosenberg, a radio personality, did not like the artists choosing to perform next to the Donda rapper.

So, he aired his views on social media, writing in a post on X, "A lot of people I love are being openly lame about Kanye."

"I am not saying no one deserves forgiveness or empathy, but this man sang 'Heil Hitler' ONE YEAR AGO," he penned, adding, "Disappointed in a lot of people."

Despite the critical comment, Cudi seems to tolerate none of it.

In a sharp rebuke, he plainly wrote back, "I understand your frustration, Peter, but I don't really care if you're disappointed in me."

Making his position crystal clear on where he stands on West, Cudi penned, "That man is my brother. You don't have a relationship with him like I do."

"Damn near 2 decades of art and friendship. You are not family. So I get it," the musician said.

Cudi and Ye previously fell apart over the latter's controversial antics and behavior, but he suggested that he has now reformed.

"I've been around Ye, and I can honestly say talking to him now is how it used to be when I first signed to him, but even better."

"He was dealing with mental health struggles for years, and now he's good," he noted.

What it appears to be is that Cudi made a case for West to be re-accepted in the mainstream after he was booted out over his anti-Semitic controversies.

"Everyone deserves some grace when they are family. I was the hardest on him out of anybody," he noted.

"I held him accountable. He apologised, and it was sincere. But like I said, you are not family, so I get it," Cudi said.

It is worth noting that West has, on multiple occasions, been offered apologies for his past toxic rhetoric.
