Robert Pattinson finally addresses Chris Hansen's outrage on 'Primetime'

Robert Pattinson has finally revealed what he expects from Chris Hansen, as he has been openly criticizing the forthcoming movie Primetime.

For those unaware, Primetime is a 2026 psychological crime thriller film that loosely follows the 2006 origin and rising fame of the controversial news segment To Catch a Predator, which was hosted by Chris Hansen.

Notably, Hansen threatened to take potential legal action, claiming that the movie was made without his consent during his Wednesday, August 26 appearance on Dan Abrams’ SiriusXM podcast.

On Saturday, September 4, Pattinson attended a press conference in Italy, where he shared his stance on the renowned American television presenter’s disapproval of Primetime and his concerns regarding Hollywood’s motive behind the thriller.

Voicing his thoughts, The Odyssey star said, “I mean, obviously I hope he likes the movie. I never really set out to make a movie about Chris Hansen.”

“I would hope in some ways, like, the amount of inspiration that his character has kind of given certain people who are involved in this [film] for like years now, I hope is some kind of compliment,” he articulated.

Pattinson went on to state that To Catch a Predator catches your complete attention because of Hansen’s “magnetic” personality.”

The Batman actor shared, “I watched a show when I was younger and I didn’t even think about it. I mean, when you kind of obsessively watch it, you realize there’s a strange alchemy with what’s going on with the status of the show and how it was directed and how things got together and the time period.”

“But something he’s doing is the reason why people are still talking about that show 20 years later. And it’s not to do necessarily solely with subject matter. I just think there was something about the show that was very groundbreaking, kind of breaking the rules of television,” Robert Pattinson remarked.

It is pertinent to mention that Primetime, directed by Lance Oppenheim, is scheduled to open in United States theatres on September 25, 2026, under the banner of A24.
