Taylor Sheridan gets major praise from his stars: Here’s what they’re saying
Taylor Sheridan has a reputation as a stellar creator in the industry
Taylor Sheridan, a top creator, is a favourite of several actors. Robert Patrcik is one of them.
The actor starred in 1923, the prequel to Yellowstone.
Bringing in Harrison Ford, Patrick recalled that both of them agreed while together on Sheridan's show that it was exceptional.
“Harrison [Ford] and I had worked together, like, 16 years earlier in a movie called Firewall, and we got together on the first day, we had the first scene, and we were talking about the script, and I was going, like, it’s like reading Ernest Hemingway."
He told People, “I mean, these scripts – it's like For Whom the Bell Tolls or something.”
“It’s just so rich, and we both agreed that it was,” the actor said, adding, “The scripts were amazing.”
Ash Santos is another.
The actress who starred in Marshals as Andrea, a show created by Sheridan.
In praise of him, the star said the director's script was virtually rock-solid and that he also described the scene to his actors in an important way.
“Because he was an actor, he very much cares about the actor’s process,” the 33-year-old told People.
Santos also said Sheridan's approach is clear-cut, with no room for nonsense.
“What I appreciate about him is that he just keeps it very real. He just kind of cuts through the bull***."
“He’s just very like, ‘Okay, this is what I’m trying to see. This is why", she added.
To ensure her interview with People did not sound like empty praise, Santos provided an example and a personal one.
She recalled that before auditioning for Marshals, her interaction with Sheridan came through in Mayor of Kingston.
What piqued her interest was how the filmmaker directly called her to explain what he wanted from the role.
“I met him about a month before I tested for Marshals, because I was testing for another project of his,” she said.
“Before that, we had only ever spoken on the phone," the actress continued.
"When I was reading for a role on Mayor of Kingstown, he called me to kind of walk me through what he wanted to see in my audition, and then we finally met in person last summer," she said.
Santos spotlight the reputation Sheridan built over the years, which, in turn, made him one of the most successful creators in the industry.
