Tom Felton goes unfiltered about Draco's epilogue look in final 'Harry Potter' film

Tom Felton thinks his real-life look now beats the appearance of his on-screen adult character's epilogue look in the final Harry Potter movie, which was released in 2011.

Felton, now 38, passed the verdict jokingly in a video shared on the Harry Potter franchise's Instagram account, where he reflected on his experience filming the aged-up epilogue scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

He said the filmmakers had to do “a lot of research into what we would look like 19 years later” as the scene was supposed to time-jump to Felton’s Draco Malfoy, Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry Potter, Rupert Grint’s Ron Weasley and Emma Watson’s Hermione Granger being adult parents, who are sending their children to Hogwarts.

“That meant photographs of my brothers — I have three older ones — my dad, their hairlines, their facial complexion,” Felton explained. “And so around that, they designed what Draco would look like 19 years later.”

He joked that the results now seem "rather unfair compared to how Harry and Ron's" were aged for the same scene. 

He shared that he's grateful to now “get to put that right” with the chance to portray an older version of his character through his current role in the Broadway production of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." 

He now finds his current appearance “somewhat more flattering than what they did” with the original epilogue scene years ago. 

Felton also fondly recalled filming the original scene as it was filmed at a real train station rather than a studio set. 

“Obviously, we knew it was the end,” he said. “That was not a set or a studio, we shot that at King’s Cross station, so it was pretty cool.”

At the time, he believed it would be his final appearance in the franchise, making his return to the role on Broadway feel especially meaningful.

“It’s even cooler that I genuinely thought that was the last day that I was gonna ever, ever be a wizard. And here I am. Harry Potter and I are sharing a dressing room here on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway,” he added, while holding a Harry Potter-themed water bottle.

His run in the stage production has been extended into early 2027.
