Lil Nas X heartbroken over mom Tameka Hill's loss

Lil Nas X and the singer's mother Tameka Hill did not share a common mother-son relationship.

Instead, it was complicated.

However, when he lost her - as the musician announced today - he was in grief.

Taking to Instagram, the musician said, “RIP TO THE BADDEST EVER! LOVE U FOREVER, MOMMY,” the 27-year-old wrote, before pensively adding, “This one’s gonna hurt.”

It is unclear what the cause of death of Nas' mom was, but the relationship between them was far from cordial.

Nas, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, previously reflected on his mother's struggles with addiction.

“I never really talk about my mom. She’s an addict, so we don’t have the closest relationship," he told Variety.

“Even trying to get her better — things didn’t quite work out. But there’s still love," Nas said at the time.

But what perhaps may have complicated the matter for the Old Town Road singer is that the heartbreaking loss comes while he is working toward her sobriety goal.

“So, tomorrow is my 10,000th day alive and … I made it!” he said in a recent post on Instagram. “A lot of y’all won’t make it but I made it.”

Earlier, he finished an inpatient treatment program in late 2025.

Again taking to Instagram, Nas penned, “Ever since I got out of rehab, everybody’s, like, [so] nice to me. I could be like ‘Hey’ and everybody’s going to be like ‘Oh my God, you’re so brave.’”

“I can try to post a thirst trap on my Instagram Story, and then it’s going to be somebody like, ‘Keep fighting King.’”

It's worth noting that Nas has been in rehab, but he didn't disclose why.
