Sid Wilson exits Slipknot after almost three decades
Sid Wilson’s departure from Slipknot has been confirmed
Sid Wilson’s journey with Slipknot lasted from 1998 until 2026.
It was announced that the long-time Slipknot DJ is no longer connected with the band after, nearly three decades with the group. The news was disclosed on official social media account of Slipknot on August 14, 2026.
According to the Knotfest Instagram statement, “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson.”
Adding, “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
The caption reads, “Slipknot have parted ways with Sid Wilson. The announcement could briefly be found on the band’s website.”
Previously on July 31, 2026, it was mentioned by the entertainment outlet, TMZ that Wilson was no longer part of the masked band as he parted his ways however, the reason was not clear.
Later that day, the band’s guitarist, Jim Root addressed the reports in his Instagram story, saying, “Don’t believe everything you read.”
“Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.” Root added.
For those unaware Sidney George Wilson known as Sid Wilson, joined the heavy metal band in 1998 as a turntablist, later added keyboard responsibility too and became popular because of his energetic live performances.
