Ted Danson discusses difficult time after 'Cheers'

Ted Danson talked about struggles which followed the end of Cheers.

Reportedly, after Cheers 1993 finale, the Emmy-winning actor went through a difficult time notably his financially burdensome divorce, costing him $30million and affair with Whoopi Goldberg which gained extensive media attention.

Reflecting on that difficult period. The veteran actor told Radar Online, "People say, 'What was it like? What did you do when she was over?”

Adding, "I said, 'I had f---d up my life so much that I didn't even realize Cheers was over.'"

"I wanted to stop being a liar. I wanted to be emotionally mature. I wanted to change," the Cheers star added further.

Speaking about the blackface incident at a Friars Club comedy roast where he made racially offensive jokes in October 1993. "I need to and want to apologize for the rest of my life because somebody today can go on the internet," Danson expressed his regret.

Recalling how he didn’t want to be stuck in one role and eventually decided to explore something new. He said, "And [there was] a little bit of... 'If I don't leave now, I may not know if I could do anything else, and I want to see if I can do any other stuff."

"I think it was the best thing that could have happened to me, and I'm doing some things differently," Danson remarked.
