Kate Beckinsale highlights 'disgusting' remarks after her mom's death and MCAS diagnosis

Kate Beckinsale has broken her silence on body-shaming comments after deleting all of her Instagram posts.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, August 8, the 53-year-old English actress shared several posts in which she highlighted the negative comments she has received about her body following the death of her mother, Judy Loe, in 2025.

Notably, Beckinsale receives heartbreaking remarks after informing her fans about her mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), making her delete her Instagram posts.

Beckinsale shared one comment that read, “Loosen up the Ozempic!! You were divine and now you look anorexic!”

Another person wrote, “Gain weight you f***** it,” to which she replied, “You take a break from Instagram for several months following the death of your mother, delete all of your posts and explain in some considerable detail about what you may have lost weight including the fact that weight loss is one of the very first physical signs of bereavement… I think people might be broken.”

Notably, the Pearl Harbor star shared this after she posted a since-deleted 13-part video discussing her MCAS diagnosis, in which she stated that “anytime I post a photo of myself, I receive an enormous amount of comments telling me how disgusting I look and I’m anorexic or I’m on meth or that I’ve lost so much weight.”

“First off, I’ve lost my entire family, except my precious daughter, in a short amount of time,” Beckinsale revealed, alluding to the demise of her mother Leo and stepfather Roy Battersby.

It is pertinent to mention that MCAS is a rare condition “caused by overactive mast cells. It leads to repeated episodes of severe symptoms that can affect multiple parts of your body. These episodes may include swelling, hives, trouble breathing, diarrhea and vomiting. In severe cases, MCAS can cause life-threatening anaphylaxis,” according to Cleveland Clinic.
