Brad Pitt renews legal fight for Angelina Jolie's financial documents
Brad Pitt says ex-wife Angelina Jolie's Hollywood earnings matter in Winery lawsuit
Brad Pitt is still trying to get Angelina Jolie's financial records as their legal fight over their French winery, Château Miraval, continues.
Pitt's lawyers argue Jolie has not been truthful about her reasons for selling her share of the winery in 2021. They have filed new legal papers asking a judge to force Jolie to hand over records, including payments she received for movie roles and brand deals around the time she decided to sell.
Their new filing specifically demands revealing “upfront fees for film roles, brand sponsorships, or other professional services Jolie performed leading up to the time when she allegedly determined that she needed to sell Miraval in order to achieve financial independence."
Pitt's team says these records are important for the case and that without them, the jury won't have the full picture.
Meanwhile, in new documents from a July meeting, Jolie's lawyer said Pitt's request for financial records was unfair and controlling.
“I think this is an overreach by them and a gross one and essentially more controlling conduct by Pitt,” her lawyer said.
Her lawyer added that Jolie, who starred in several movies between 2017 and 2021, including Maleficent and Eternals, paused her career for years to help her family heal from abuse by Pitt. They share six children together.
Jolie and Pitt separated in 2016 and finalised their divorce in December 2024.
For those unfamiliar with the matter, Jolie sold her share of the winery to a company called Tenute del Mondo. Pitt then sued her, saying she broke an agreement that neither of them would sell without the other's approval.
Jolie says she never needed his approval and has refused to share certain documents, citing attorney-client privilege.
Jolie's team says Pitt refused to buy her share because she wouldn't sign an agreement to stay silent about alleged abuse. The alleged incident happened during a private plane ride in 2016, but Pitt was not criminally charged.
