Ariana Grande has faced public scrutiny over her extreme weight loss
Jameela Jamil’s is facing backlash after making controversial remarks about Ariana Grande have resurfaced after the singer and actress pulled out of a London musical over "ongoing public scrutiny."
According to producers, she plans to withdraw from the public eye for a break from the intense scrutiny she has been facing.
Grande had been due to star alongside her "Wicked" co-star Jonathan Bailey in a production of Stephen Sondheim's "Sunday in the Park with George" at the Barbican Centre in 2027.
Jameela Jamil added fuel to the fire with her social media remarks on Grande’s appearance.
Commenting on the singer’s appearance in her recently released ‘Petal’ music video, she wrote: "This poor woman is possibly dying right in front of us. This outfit is designed to accentuate the thinness for discourse. Her team are thoroughly irresponsible for not guiding her away from this deeply damaging image for her young fans to see so glamorized."
The British actress and activist has faced intense criticism from Grande’s fans for making what they called insensitive remarks about someone’s appearance.
Grande, who has been the subject of online scrutiny for a while now, responded to her critics in her 2024 song "Yes, And?"
She sang: "My face is sitting, I don't need no disguise / Don't comment on my body, do not reply / Your business is yours, and mine is mine
