Emilia Clarke refuses to use Instagram because it makes her “miserable” in just “30 seconds.”

The Game of Thrones star told Marie Claire UK magazine that when it comes to social media, she’s very much a “post and ghost” kind of person.

She explained, “I do not partake of Instagram at all because within 30 seconds I'm miserable… Have I seen a picture of myself at the Emmys? No!”

“An algorithm isn't going to keep you warm at night. It's not going to give you your wildest dreams. It's not gonna make you laugh. It's not gonna support you,” Emilia detailed.

The Me Before You actress also blamed social media for compounding the pressure on women to look a certain way.

She told the outlet, “The expectations of image across the board, like for men and for women, is just completely untenable. You want us to look the same? You want to just be a population of the same face and the same body? Come on, we're human! We're gonna change.”

“The difference, I think, is that still we in a society are going to criticise women faster than we will criticise men,” Emilia Clarke mentioned as she discussed societal norms and beauty standards which are influenced by social media.
