Russian missiles reportedly enter Nato airspace amid massive strike as Volodymyr Zelensky rallies allies for help

On Thursday, Russia reportedly launched a heavy bombardment across Ukraine, prompting NATO allies' jets to scramble fighter jets as a precautionary measure to protect the bloc’s airspace amid the massive attack.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky released an emergency plea to his allies for help as he revealed his air force had alerted him to a higher probability of Vladimir Putin during the early hours of the morning today.

In this connection, he posted on social media: “It is important that our partners fully understand what is happening and that the protection of lives directly depends on their readiness or lack thereof to help us with air defense missiles.”

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko also confirmed the Ukrainian capital had come under major attack from Russian ballistic missiles. The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces released a statement that it had deployed assets and resources at its disposal to address the threat.

Zelensky’s appeals to allies follow his visit to the White House on Tuesday. He sat down with Trump in the Oval Office to discuss per mission pacts for the production of Patriot interceptors.

Notably, only Patriot systems are neutralizing Russian missiles, but Ukraine fell short of PAC-3 interceptor missiles.

According to the Ukrainian President, he had a “good meeting” with his American counterpart. He is now counting on practical results after Tuesday’s meeting in Washington. 

It is pertinent to mention here that relations between Mr. Zelensky and the US President have improved since the infamous outburst in the Oval Office at the beginning of his second term.

Additionally, Trump had previously committed to grant Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot air defense systems domestically.
