George and Amal Clooney were forced to evacuate their "beautiful" French home as wildfires in the area rage on.

For those unversed, the pair live in Brignoles in southeastern France with their 9-year-old twins Ella and Alexander.

A-listers announced their departure in a letter to the mayor of Brignoles, according to People magazine.

“Dear Didier, At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment,” they penned.

“As we evacuate Brignoles we want to emphasise 2 things, first we hope you and the people of our city are safe and second that Amal and i are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole,” the letter continued.

Concluding the letter, the married couple wrote, “We love Brignoles and our friends who live there.”

As per the Associated Press reports, the area covered by the dangerous fire in France is currently four times the size of Paris.

Wildfires raging across Southern Europe have caused severe damage to France, Spain, Italy, and Greece. Approximately 224,000 people were evacuated from France's Gironde region to safe locations.
