Cara Delevingne 'hated' herself before making surprising comeback to spotlight

In 2015, Cara Delevingne made a shocking decision to quit the fashion world despite being a highly recognizable face.

Looking back on the stunning movie, the British model said, "I wanted to reinvent myself. I had to break free, whether from holding myself back or from how people saw me."

Confessing to battling deep personal turmoil, Delevingne said, "I just hated myself so much and I was just so fragile. I didn't have a thick enough skin for it then — but I do now.'

However, the Suicide Squad star managed to return to the spotlight after her rocky journey as she recently featured in Playboy's latest photoshoot.

"It's so fun being naked," the actress said, referring to her boldest photoshoot yet.

For Develingme, embracing her body fully is akin to freedom she sought, as she explained, "I love the sense in the freedom of owning my sexuality and owning my body and I think for the first time instead of getting naked for a brand or an editorial, this felt more like my choice."

"Like, of course it's always been my choice, but it felt like something so liberating. That to me is sexy," the actress noted.

Given an even intimate look from her latest shoot, Develingne recalled how she shared the racy snaps with her girlfriend (the actress is openly a same-sex lover) and her reaction made her day.

"I was texting my girlfriend earlier and I was sending her the photos and she was like "Oh my god, you look so pretty," she told The Times.

"And I was like "But I'm just a silly baby pretending to be a sexy lady and sometimes that's how it feels," Develingne concluded.
