Batman fans get sad update on Robert Pattinson's much-awaited sequel

When The Batman Part II was announced, its release date was set for Oct. 2, 2026.

Then came the first delay of nearly a year, i.e, Oct. 1, 2027.

For quite some time, the production seemed tied to the above release date schedule.

DC co-head James Gunn even defended the decision at the time.

He pointed to a series of blockbuster sequels, arguing they are all delayed, such as Avatar, The Incredible, Top Gun, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

“To be fair, a 5-year gap or more is fairly common in sequels,” he penned on social media platform Threads.

“7 years between ‘Alien’ and ‘Aliens.’ 14 years between ‘Incredibles.’ 7 years between the first two ‘Terminators.’ 13 years between ‘Avatars.’ 36 years between ‘Top Guns.’ And, of course, six years between ‘Guardians Vol 2’ and ‘Vol 3.’”

Yet the much-anticipated The Batman: Part II was delayed again, this time to February 18, 2028.

Matt Reeves, who served as the film's director, shared the announcement along with the first camera test footage for the sequel.

The Batman: Part II is not the only movie the Warner Bros. has reshuffled recently.

For example, J.J. Abrams' movie The Great Beyond, which starred Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega, will now arrive in cinemas on October 1, 2027.

While Panic Carefully, a thriller directed by Sam Esmail, starring Julia Roberts, has moved to April 9, 2027.
