Lily Allen has revealed that she is cancelling most of her one-hour long arena gigs on her West End Girl US tour and booking new shows in smaller venues instead.

She posted the unexpected decision on social media about the changes to the tour, speaking in terms of "adjustments" and without referring to any reason for nixing the big gigs.

"We have a few updates since we first announced this leg of the tour earlier in the year," she wrote. "I am so excited to say we are now coming to Seattle.”

"For Philly, Chicago, LA, San Francisco, Vancouver, we've had to make some adjustments. If you've already bought tickets to these shows, you will be refunded in 5-7 working days and automatically entered into a presale that goes live on 22 July,” Lily added.

New shows have been booked at medium-sized venues in five of the affected six cities. "Montreal, I am so sad to say we tried our hardest, but will not be able to make it to you this time," she further shared.

The tour's opening night at New York City's Madison Square Garden on September 3 is going ahead as planned.

However, the unusual nature of the tour has been the topic of much discussion. Lily Allen is playing the West End Girl album, which revolves around events leading up to her recent divorce, in its entirety, with no songs from her back catalogue.
