Drake devastated by 45-minute regret after Tay Keith's death
DJ Akademiks claims to have had a private discussion with Drake over Tay Keith
At the end of June, Drake suffered a heartbreaking loss.
Tay Keith, his long-time collaborator, died.
He was found dead in his apartment in Nashville, Tennessee, following a wellness check.
To understand how deeply Drizzy felt the loss, DJ Akademiks – the Toronto rap star's pal – shared a private conversation between him and Drizzy.
In his livestream, the host shared the call’s content, claiming the Grammy winner has been facing a heartbreaking ‘what if’ situation after Keith’s death.
Akademiks alleged Drake was overwhelmed by grief and told him the late producer reached out to him before his death.
"Drake hit me up, I think it was the night—he was f** up."
He continued, "I don't like bringing up everything we talk about, but he was fucked up over the passing of Tay Keith.”
Akademiks claimed Drake couldn’t shake the thought that things would have been different if he had picked up the call.
"He and I had a long convo. It's kind of interesting; I think he was feeling a little guilty. He said Tay Keith had hit him up about 45 minutes before,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, it is unclear what the cause of Keith's death is. Authorities have so far not released the report but stated no foul play is suspected.
