Katy Perry has offered a rare glimpse into her emotional life as she reflected on navigating heartbreak and finding peace following the most tumultuous period of her life.

The singer appeared on The Unfamous Podcast, where she opened up about the inspiration behind her upcoming single Watch It Burn, and lessons she has learnt following the dark and “tough year” she has faced.

In a clip shared to her Instagram of the conversation, Katy claimed, "In Watch It Burn, I am wrestling with my darkness,” adding, "Last year was pretty tough. I have not given myself permission to be angry."

She went on to say, "Let’s feel this pain. Let’s feel this anger. Let’s move on…Let’s learn from it also."

The most prominent headline, apart from her trip to space and bizarre Lifetimes Tour choreography, has been the heartbreak she faced following the breakdown of her decade-long relationship and engagement to actor Orlando Bloom.

Although 2026 seems to not be all bad for the Roar hitmaker, after she fell head over heels for her Canadian politician, Justin Trudeau in July of last year.

In June, the former Canadian prime minister supported the singer at the premiere of her Lifetimes Tour concert film at the TriBeCa Film Festival, where she couldn't help but declare her love for her new beau.

"I am very in love. Actually, that show was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that,” Katy said of her relationship with Justin.

"Because I'm a little bit like a rainbow kite," she continued, explaining, "I fly super high and like, you know, touch the veil, cosmos, and sometimes I need to be anchored. So, to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now."

"Every day is a fantastic journey, and every day is a chance to evolve," she further shared. "And to be a better person and do the right thing and to be a model for your community, for your family, for your world."

"I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life," Katy Perry mentioned before reflecting on the year leading up to meeting Justin, which she called " one of the hardest" of her life.
