Selena Gomez has denied that a recent social media post was aimed at her close friend Taylor Swift.

The singer addressed the speculation after fans suggested she was taking a swipe at Swift after a New York Knicks game.

The discussion started when Gomez, who supports the San Antonio Spurs, posted, “so funny how some are all the sudden fans though lol” after the Knicks' win on Wednesday night.

Some social media users believed the comment was directed at Swift, who attended the game and has been seen supporting the Knicks in the past.

Gomez later responded on Instagram Stories, saying the post was not about Swift or any of her friends.

“I would never insult my friends nor was it an insult,” she wrote. The singer explained that the comment was a reaction to another post and part of a friendly bet she had made with friends over the game’s result.

Gomez added that she lost the bet and was simply teasing the friends she had been competing against.

She also pushed back against assumptions that her social circle only includes Swift, writing, “Believe it or not I do have other friends in my life.”

The actress and singer ended her response by reminding fans that the situation was not serious, adding, “It’s a basketball game.”

Gomez and Swift have been close friends for years and have frequently spoken publicly about their support for one another.
