Reese Witherspoon hints at 'Legally Blonde' return: 'It's my superhero'
The actress played her infamous blonde girl role as Elle in 2001
Reese Witherspoon has shown interest in reprising her Legally Blonde role.
The Morning Show star, who played Elle Woods in the 2001 rom-com movie and its 2003 sequel, said in a recent interview with Extra that she "would love to do it again."
She gushed, "It's like it's my superhero. So, it's like my Marvel character. I would love to play her again. It just has to be perfect."
Reese then drew a comparison between her role and Tom Cruise's role as Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, which he reprised after 36 years in 2022's Top Gun: Maverick.
The award-winning actress said, "Like, Tom Cruise did it right. He only came out with Top Gun when it was absolutely right. And I was like, he nailed it … or like Adam Sandler brought back Happy Gilmore … So, we're gonna get there. We're gonna do it."
In a previous chat on The Graham Norton Show back in January 2025, Reese revealed how her Legally Blonde role landed her a jury duty.
“Well listen, I did not want to do jury duty,” Reese said on the show. “But I remember it was after ‘Legally Blonde.’ It was probably like seven years after ‘Legally Blonde,’ I got called for jury duty and it was in Beverly Hills. I thought, ‘Surely they’re not gonna pick me.’ They picked me for a long trial, y’all. It was probably two weeks. I was on the jury.”
