Sydney Sweeney reveals real reason behind long wait for 'Euphoria': 'It's crazy'

Sydney Sweeney has broken her silence on the speculation that the delay of Euphoria season 3 was caused by the cast.

During a recent chat with Vanity Fair, the Housemaid actress clarified that the cast's schedules were not the reason behind the delayed third season.

Sweeney said, “Well, I mean, we all grew up together on this show, so it’s honestly crazy to watch how much social media and the press spin things.”

The delay came after production for season 3 was pushed back due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, as well as reported script development issues.

The Madame Web star explained her own work schedule had no impact on the show's timeline.

Sweeney noted, “I was in first position to HBO. So the moment they say, ‘Hey, this is the first day of filming,’ I’m legally not allowed to do anything else. So my schedule doesn’t affect the show.”

She also added that the rule applied to the rest of the cast.

“All of us were in first position, so it wasn’t like any of our schedules were holding it up.”

It is pertinent to mention that season 3 of Euphoria premiered on April 12 and the last episode was streamed on May 31.

Elsewhere during the conversation, Sweeney reflected on her time playing Cassie; she recalled, “Every season, like Sam says, he’s always shot it like it’s the last. And I think we’ve all approached it in the same mentality. So I’ve always said goodbye to Cassie on the last day, as bittersweet as it is, because she’s such a challenging role and she stretches me as an actor.”
