GTA 6 file size reportedly just under 200GB, rumours claim
PlayStation 5 will be among the first to get access to GTA 6, as it is expected to be released in November
With Trailer 3 still unconfirmed and Rockstar keeping details locked down, two separate unofficial sources are pointing to the same figure for GTA 6's file size: just under 200GB. Neither claim is verified, but the independent corroboration is the closest thing to confirmation fans are likely to get before an official announcement.
This image was initially spotted on a 2024 thread by GTA 6 Intel, an X channel that has proven itself accurate in previous reports. The same number was independently verified by another party earlier in the month, implying that Rockstar Games has succeeded in staying true to this target during development.
Considering the size of the game and the time spent making it, it is much smaller than what some had expected.
Space has been an issue in relation to storage requirements for games in recent years, especially in consoles, due to the size of the games that are currently being developed. Some recently released games have had their storage capacity exceed 100GB, and a game as ambitious as GTA 6 would easily qualify for more than that.
At just under 200GB, the storage requirement is certainly impressive, though this might not yet be at its maximum because the process can still be refined until the game finally gets released.
The PlayStation 5 will be among the first to get access to GTA 6, as it is expected to be released in November. This will be followed by a PC version, which Rockstar has confirmed, although there is no estimated release date as of now, and the best guess would be 2027.
But file size is not the only information gamers are eager to know. The official trailer number three for Grand Theft Auto VI is anticipated to hit by late June or early July, which would mark the beginning of Rockstar’s summer marketing blitz.
Among other things, system requirements and pricing should be announced, with some sources claiming that the most advanced version of the game will be priced at roughly $100.
A dedicated fan who monitors Grand Theft Auto VI news managed to plant surveillance cameras in Rockstar Games’ parking garage to trace the executives’ movements and thereby gauge major revelations.
