Kelly Rowland says genuinely liking her husband Tim Weatherspoon is one of the many reasons her marriage has lasted over a decade.

The singer and actress, who married talent manager Weatherspoon in 2014, recently opened up about their relationship in a recent interview as she touched upon family life and her latest projects.

“I like him,” Rowland told People. “I genuinely like him as a person.”

The 45-year-old credited her husband for being supportive, intelligent and devoted to their family, adding that she admires the values he learned growing up.

"I think he's a great man. I think that he comes from a wonderful family. I think that he's so smart, and handsome, and figures things out, and he's cool and he has great music taste, and he's really good with our kids."

Rowland, who shares two sons together, including Titan Jewell, 11, and Noah Jon, 5, with Weatherspoon, explained that family remains at the centre of her busy career. Her children even recently joined her on tour, which she says, allowed her kids to watch her creative process behind the scenes rather than just the final performance.

"The biggest thing for me is them watching me in rehearsal and not just seeing the final outcome," she says. "That's the part I want them to really pay attention to, not the ending part, because the ending part is great, but it's the process that gets you to the end."

Rowland said her eldest son was disappointed when her recent live performances came to an end because he enjoyed travelling with her so much.

Earlier this year, she released the single Complicated for the film Relationship Goals, in which she also stars.

Rowland also reflected on her close friendship with former bandmates Beyoncé and Michelle Williams, saying they have remained a strong support system throughout the years.

“They love me through my ugly,” she said. “We laugh together, experience joy together and go through life together.”
