Martin Short relies on his 'secret' lover after family tragedy
Martin Short and Meryl Streep romance explained
Martin Short is said to be relying on his secret lover Meryl Streep during the devastating time.
As the comedian grieves the death of his daughter, sources claim that Meryl has been a rock for him.
Just days after Martin talked about his daughter's death in an interview, he was spotted leaving Hollywood's famed Chateau Marmont at 11 pm with Meryl.
Meanwhile, on May 17 they were spotted again at Atlantic, cuddling at a corner table in London.
Now, sources told Radar Online, "They are both clear that they'll be in each other's lives forever – but they feel zero need to formalize it."
The duo met in early 2024 when Meryl Streep made a guest appearance on Martin Short's Only Murders in the Building. The comedian was reportedly getting impatient by last Christmas as Meryl's divorce with Don Gummer was "dragging on."
"It's giving her and Martin major stress ... he's a very old-fashioned guy. He wants them to get married and live together – now," the source at the time.
Furthermore, with the actress' divorce not being finalized yet and Martin's daughter's suicide, marriage reportedly seems off. The source claimed, "Meryl pushed to take things totally undercover, for a time."
Adding, "Martin was saying they should get married. But now he's on the same page and wants to keep it as private as possible."
"Everyone is so happy that Marty has Meryl in his life right now. He's endured so much, to lose Katherine, his only daughter, has been crushing," the source told the outlet, noting that the Devil Wears Prada actress has helped the comedian find some joy and their relationship "is a very bright spot in his life."
