Sir Paul McCartney unveils his ‘highly dubious’ memory
Sir Paul McCartney also explained why he believes the memory is ‘a dubious territory’
Sir Paul McCartney has claimed that he "can remember being born" but the early memory is "highly dubious."
The Beatles legend made the revelation in a new interview with the Guardian newspaper in which he was asked to recall the earliest sounds he can remember hearing.
McCartney went one step further by revealing he can actually remember sights and sounds from the moment he first arrived in the world in Liverpool, England on June 18 1942.
He told the publication, "OK, well, now we get into dubious territory, because I have a feeling I can remember being born.”
"Highly dubious, highly dubious, but I feel the white tiles and chrome instruments and the sounds … " he added.
McCartney went on to admit it's "almost certainly" an "imagined memory" but it's stayed with him for years.
The Hey Jude rocker said, "It’s probably total bulls***. In fact, it almost certainly is. An imagined memory! And I was a forceps delivery. I don’t quite understand what that is. I think they had to pull me out with some pliers."
It comes after McCartney opened up about the current state of the music industry and compared pop sensation Taylor Swift to the Beatles.
The Yesterday star admitted he can see a "parallel" between Taylor and his band because she has achieved a level of fame comparable to the hysteria which surrounded the Fab Four in the mid-1960s.
During an appearance on BBC show Tracks Of My Years, the musician was asked if he would give any advice to Taylor and Paul McCartney replied, " You do see the parallel, you know the fame and the amount of fame and the worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had, but I don't think she needs any advice to tell you the truth... If she asked for it, I definitely would. I'm like the older brother to that generation, or more like the granddad, actually."
