Tina Knowles feels proud of Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy: 'She's a huge talent'

Tina Knowles finds striking similarities between her grandchild, Blue Ivy, and her daughter, Beyoncé.

Knowles received a Gracie Award for her audiobook, Matriarch, during an event in Beverly Hills in California on Tuesday, May 19.

At the event, PEOPLE magazine interviewed the 72-year-old American businesswoman and fashion designer, who reflected on Ivy’s similarities to her mum, Beyoncé, as a teenager.

Calling to mind Ivy’s recent Met Gala debut, Knowles became emotional and said, “She's just like her mama because she's a huge talent. And because she is very poised.”

“I mean, the Met Gala, I couldn't do it. And so, I was like, look how poised she is on the red carpet and how she knows exactly what she wants. Yeah, it made me very proud,” the grandmother admitted.

For those unaware, Ivy made her Met Gala debut at the age of just 14 on May 4, 2026. Her mother, Beyoncé, was the same age when she joined Girl’s Tyme, a Texas-based girl group which has now become Destiny’s Child.

It is pertinent to mention that Ivy Blue attended the 2026 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City with both her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, in a white strapless Balenciaga gown and paired it with an unzipped jacket with silver Jimmy Choo stilettos. She accessorized her look with sunglasses.
