A surprising update confirms that a bone found near the home of Nancy Guthrie predates her disappearance by 750 years, leaving the discovery outside the scope of law enforcement’s criminal investigation.

Meanwhile, YouTuber Alec Wysopal was making the rounds in the scorching desert terrain near Guthrie’s home on May 7 when he discovered a bone.

Wysopal, who was livestreaming to his nearly 10,000 subscribers, said on camera, “Oh, what is that? That’s a bone… It looks like a leg bone.”

Police arrived on the scene and collected the bone. In conversation with the US Sun, police finding was not being looked at as a criminal investigation. According to Tucson police, the bone was determined to be human, but the probe would be a "prehistoric anthropological investigation.”

“Whether it’s Nancy Guthrie or an ancient individual, you shouldn’t be poking at them with a stick,” Watson told the outlet.

The recent incident sparks concerns about podcasters and social media influencers taking matters into their own hands to solve the case of Guthrie’s disappearance. The search for Guthrie's disappearance has been going for months.

Previously a public feud has erupted between Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos and FBI Director Kash Patel regarding the timeline of federal involvement.

Patel alleges the Bureau was not invited to assist for several days, during which time the crime scene was released and contaminated by journalists and delivery drivers walking through blood spatter on the porch as reported by the Fox news.

We would have analyzed it within days and maybe gotten better information or more information, “Patel said.

Sheriff Nanos denied Patel’s claims in a statement and said his office had notified the FBI Task Force, and that federal officers were at the scene with Pima County officials.
