Mandy Moore opens up about first marriage to Ryan Adams
Mandy Moore makes rare comment about marriage to Ryan Adams
Mandy Moore has spoken about her past marriage to ex-husband Ryan Adams.
She made the comments on her podcast That Was Us in a May 19 episode, where she said her current husband, Taylor Goldsmith, followed a traditional step when proposing. She said he asked her father for permission before marriage.
She noted that Adams did not do this when they got married. Moore said, “I had been betrothed before, but that person did not ask my father.”
She added that her father was touched by Goldsmith’s approach. She said her father is also awkward and told Goldsmith he did not need to ask permission.
Moore married Ryan Adams in 2009 when she was 24. They separated in 2015 and divorced in 2016.
In earlier interviews, Moore has spoken about her first marriage in more detail. She has said the relationship affected her music career and personal life.
She previously said Adams was controlling and discouraging during their marriage. She also said she felt isolated during that period of her life.
Adams has denied her allegations through his legal representative. Moore has said she now sees that part of her life differently.
She is currently married to Taylor Goldsmith and has children. She said she feels like she is in a very different place in her life now.
She added that looking back, the past relationship feels distant and difficult to understand from her current perspective.
