Iran's state-run IRNA news agency confirms Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi heading to Pakistan, Oman and Russia
As informed by IRNA, the country's top diplomat officials are expected to travel to Pakistan by this weekend for another round of peace talks, raising hopes for revived negotiations in the Iran-U.S. war.
As reported by the Asociated Press on Friday, the Iranian officials did not provide further details and spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
With referrence to that U.S. President Donald Trump said Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah by three weeks after talks at the White House on Thursday.
Notably, the meeting was the second high-level negotiation between the two countries since last week.
The initial 10-day ceasefire, which took effect last Friday, had been due to expire Monday.
“The purpose of this visit is to hold bilateral consultations and discuss current developments in the region, as well as the latest situation in the war imposed by the United States,” the agency reported Friday.
Additionally, the scheduled visit seems the first tangible sign in days that Iran may send a delegation to Pakistan for renewed negotiations over ending the war.
