Gayle King breaks silence on Savannah Guthrie's ‘Today' return amid her mom's disappearance
Savannah Guthrie has returned to the 'Today' show on April 6
Gayle King is standing behind her pal and US TV anchor Savannah Guthrie after she returns to Today's show amid her mother Nancy’s disappearance.
In a recent chat with US Weekly at the red carpet of the Breakthrough Prize event in Los Angeles, the CBS Mornings host expressed her happiness over Guthrie's return despite the tough time she is facing.
“Listen, we’re just glad Savannah’s back," she told the outlet.
At the same time, King noted that she feels Guthrie's pain as the disappearance of her mother continues.
King said, "But of course, our hearts are still aching and still breaking. There are no words to describe what she’s going through.”
Showing her support for Gutherie, King continued, “I’m still hoping that somebody will do the right thing. Somebody, somebody out there knows something, and it’s shocking to me after seeing Savannah open up her heart, after looking at the video that we all saw, and after the million dollars reward that there has not been some resolution in this case.”
She added, “So I am just here wishing her well and cheering. I’m glad that she’s back.”
For those unversed, the 84-year-old mother of the NBC Today show anchor has been missing since February 1, 2026, suspected to have been abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona.
As the investigation for her search continues, recent developments revealed that the FBI received and is analyzing "potentially critical" DNA samples, recovered months ago from Nancy's home.
