Keke Palmer reflects on shocking fan proposal: 'I knew something was wrong'
Keke Palmer received a marriage proposal from a stranger while speaking at SXSW on March 13
Keke Palmer has finally revealed how she knew "something was wrong" when a stranger proposed to her at SXSW.
Less than a month ago, a video from the March 13 SXSW Festival panel "Baby, This is Keke Palmer Live," which was shared by TMZ, went viral. It showed a man from the crowd standing on the edge of the stage on one knee and extending an engagement ring box to the 32-year-old actress.
"This is how I knew that something was wrong because the ring was nice," Keke said on the latest episode of the Decisions, Decisions podcast.
"It wasn't like no Cracker Jack ring," the actress continued, who was at SXSW to promote her forthcoming film, I Love Boosters.
"I'm serious, the ring looked expensive," added Keke. "It looked expensive. That's when I knew something was up."
The Man in the Mirror songstress then explained how she could see something was wrong by the look in the man's eyes.
"That's when I was like 'is this a joke' because it was so sincere," said Keke. "I could see in his eyes that we've had romance. We had a lifetime in this man's eyes."
"So then I was like, 'Okay, sir, no, I cannot marry you, I cannot marry you, sir.' And then that's when I knew when he started looking back to the people and he was like, 'She wants to say yes. Help her say yes.' And I was just like, 'Oh, no,'" The Pickup actress added.
For those unversed, Keke's new movie, I Love Boosters, will be released in cinemas on May 22.
