Maisie Peters reveals ‘stressful’ decision that led her to ‘vocal therapy’
Maisie Peters discussed why she ended up in 'vocal therapy'
Maisie Peters just recalled doing a whole tour with vocal polyps.
In 2023, the singer-songwriter embarked on The Good Witch Tour in support of her second album which included a 12-week North American run followed by dates across the U.K. and Europe.
Maisie sat down for a conversation with Cosmopolitan and revealed the major tour was overshadowed after she was diagnosed with vocal polyps, growths on the vocal cords, that could lead to possible surgery.
"I did the whole (The Good Witch) tour with these vocal polyps and was in vocal therapy for three months," she said, adding, "I couldn't sing or drink or eat certain foods, and I never really shared anything publicly."
The Lost The Breakup hitmaker admitted the condition had a huge impact on her.
"It was very stressful and anxiety-inducing - every day I was waking up and thinking, 'I can't sing. How can I play to 3,000 people tonight? I can't hit my notes,'" Maisie said.
"Also, 'Will I ever get better? Will I ever sound the same?'" she told the outlet.
Maisie said she recovered "pretty much entirely" and avoided surgery, but the experience made her realize she needs to prioritize her health.
Ultimately, it led her to pull out of Kelsea Ballerini's North American tour in January 2025.
"For so many years, I was pushing and pushing and pushing, and at the end of that year, my body - even before my head - realised, like, 'I can't do it anymore,'" she shared.
However, she admitted the decision went against her personality.
"I was the girl that said yes to everything - to every tour, to every album, to every meet and greet. That was my personality. It took my brain a while to realise I was not in a healthy place to be doing that. I had to stop,” the singer confessed.
Maisie Peters is currently on her Before The Bloom tour, which kicked off in Sydney, Australia on March 2.
