Gwyneth Paltrow dishes on 'love-hate' relationship with Met Gala

Gwyneth Paltrow is sharing her honest thoughts on the Met Gala.

In a new article for Goop, the 53-year-old actress revealed her favorite red carpet looks and two of them were from the Met Gala: one was a yellow gown she wore in 2019 and the other was the 2012 blue satin Prada minidress.

While looking back at her dresses, Paltrow noted she has "sort of a love-hate relationship with the Met Ball."

The yellow gown was by Chloe as the actress admitted she was "excited to work with Chloe."

Paltrow went on to say, "I really loved Natacha [Ramsay-Levi] and what she was doing, and I love when you get to work with a woman designer. And I thought this was such a great take on the Valley of the Dolls theme."

In 2019, the theme of the annual event was Camp: Notes on Fashion and Katy Perry famously wore a hamburger costume after wearing a chandelier over a jeweled mini dress that year.

The Iron Man actress said, "I’m never going to the Met Ball in like, a hot dog costume or whatever, you know?"

"I always have to be myself, first and foremost. Like, I’m not going in a costume; I’m going in a dress. There’s two camps who go to the Met Ball — the costume or the evening dress. And I’m always going to be an evening dress person."

Gushing over her 2019 look, she added, "So this was so light and comfortable and chiffon-y and dreamy, and it was just like a lemon chiffon pie."

Paltrow then continued to share that the blue satin minidress was actually the shirt that came with a skirt.

"It actually came with a big, long skirt — that was the shirt," she recalled. "And I tried it on, and I loved it so much as is that I was like, ‘I’m not wearing the skirt.’ And Elizabeth, my stylist, was like, ‘Are you 100 percent sure about this?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I just want to wear this as a dress.’ "
