Jamie Lee Curtis slams Timothée Chalamet over ballet and opera remarks?

Timothée Chalamet, a top contender in the Oscars race for his performance in The Marty Supreme, is under fire for his views on ballet and opera.

Jamie Lee Curtis is the latest celebrity to criticized the actor's remarks.

She took to Instagram Story, asking without naming the Academy-nominated actor, "Why are any artists taking shots at any other artists?"

Chalamet's controversial remarks came during his conversation with Matthew McConaughey at the University of Texas.

One topic during the discussion was the current trend in movies.

The Dune star shared his thoughts on it, citing Netflix's 2025 Frankenstein adaptation.

"It does take you having to wave a flag of, 'Hey, this is a serious movie' or something, and some people do want to be entertained and quickly," he said.

Chalamet argued that if people wanted to see something, they would line up in droves. He gave the example of Barbie and Oppenheimer.

"I'm really right in the middle, Matthew. I admire people, and I've done it myself, who go on a talk show and say, "Hey, we've got to keep movie theaters alive; we've got to keep this genre alive," and another part of me feels like if people want to see it, like Barbie or Oppenheimer, they're going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it.

By saying this, Chalamet wanted to drive the point home that a genre doesn't need a constant campaign to save it if it's good and audiences are watching.

But amidst this conversation, he made a controversial comparison that sparked backlash.

"I don't want to be working in ballet or opera or things where it's like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive, even though, like, no one cares about this anymore.' All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there," Chalamet said.
