Jennifer Lopez makes raw confession about love and heartbreak
The multihyphenate said love must now be 'earned'
Jennifer Lopez made a raw confession about love and heartbreak after her divorce from ex-husband Ben Affleck
The 56-year-old actress and singer performed her 1999 hit If You Had My Love during her UP ALL NIGHT residency at the Colosseum. While performing, Lopez shared how the meaning of the track has evolved for her with time
"1999. It doesn't seem like that long ago, right? Well to me it does,” Lopes told the crowd. “When I first sang it, I was very young… and I sang it with a lot of hope.”
The Kiss of the Spider Woman actress went on to share that the lyrics of the song have stayed with her throughout her different phases of life.
“I've sang it when I was sad and I've sang it when I was happy,” she said. “But now today, you know how I sing it? I sing it in power. In power.”
Now, what powers mean to her, Lopes explained, "Because the truth is, if you wanted to have my love, you would have to earn it. You'd have to treat me right. You'd have to respect me. You'd have to accept me for all that I am.”
She added, “You'd have to love me if you wanted my love. Am I right, ladies?”
While reflecting love and heartbreak, she concluded, "Love is a complicated thing… You can't have love without heartbreak. But there's one thing that's for sure. You can't have Vegas without the King.”
