Major update for 'The Last of Us' season three casting
The update may come as a surprise to fans of 'The Last of Us'
The Last of Us has become one of HBO's most-watched shows. With its season two ending on a cliffhanger, the latest update would only heighten fans' anticipation.
Danny Ramirez, who plays Manny, will not return to season three. Instead, his role will be recast. The reason for this change is a scheduling conflict.
His character is an ex-Fireflies member and a friend of Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever. He helps her take revenge on Joel, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, for killing the staff of the hospital who are set to do a surgery on Ellie, portrayed by Bella Ramsey, in season one.
Besides The Last of Us, Danny is set to appear in the forthcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, having previously played Joaquin Torres, or Falcon, in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in 2021, as well as reprising his role in the 2025 movie Captain America: Brave New World.
Meanwhile, the release date of season three has not announced, but it's expected to come out in 2027.
“The Last of Us begins 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone," the series logline read.
"What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival," the synopsis adds.
