Rebecca Gayheart admits her bond with Eric Dane is no longer romantic

Rebecca Gayheart spoke out for the first time about how her bond with estranged husband Eric Dane has changed over the years.

In a recent article in The Cut, the Beverly Hills, 90210 actress talked about her non-romantic but "familial" relationship with the Grey’s Anatomy alum.

“Eric and I have known each other for a million years now,” Gayheart penned. “I care about him deeply. We had a really lovely marriage for a long time — we were married for 15 years — we created two beautiful girls.”

The pair tied the knot in 2004 shortly after briefly dating. They are parents to two daughters, 15-year-old Beatrice and 16-year-old Georgia.

She filed for divorce in 2018 but withdrew it in 2025 after Dane's ALS diagnosis.

“Lots of s*** went crazy in our relationship, and it wasn’t good,” Gayheart said of the time that led to their separation. “We separated, but we never got a divorce; we were about to and then we didn’t. We haven’t lived in the same home for eight years; he’s dated other people, I’ve dated someone."

"It’s a very complicated relationship, one that’s confusing for people," she continued. "Our love may not be romantic, but it’s a familial love.”
